FUNDING

Employee Health Care Benefits/Private Insurance Plans

Some Occupational Therapy services may be covered through employee health benefits plans or private insurance plans. Inquire with your health insurance provider to determine the extent of coverage for assessments and/or therapies.

Tax Deduction

Occupational Therapy services are tax deductible and may be submitted as an eligible medical expense with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/. Consult with a tax preparation specialist for further information.

Federal Government Funding

If your child has a permanent disability diagnosis you may qualify for additional government support such as the disability tax credit Disability tax credit (DTC) - Canada.ca and the Child disability benefit - Canada.ca.

Savings Plan 

The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a saving plan registered with the Canda Revenue Agency (CRA). It was developed to help provide financial security to an RDSP beneficiary after they turn 60 years old. Provincial Government Funding

If your child has a disability that significantly impacts their daily functioning for a period of at least one year you may qualify for the supplement for handicapped children and the supplement for handicapped children requiring exceptional care.

Integrated health and social services centers (CIUSSS)

The family support program offers support to families living with a child or adult who has a disability. Families may be eligible to receive funding adapted to their needs to support respite and/or day camp services and specialized recreational activities. To access this program, contact your local CIUSSS by consulting the Finding your integrated centre (CISSS or CIUSSS).
